Meet the CEO/ Founder

Tavia Anderson, CPA, MPA

Tavia Anderson helps nonprofit leaders protect their missions, strengthen financial confidence, and make decisions that support long-term impact.

When nonprofit leaders sit down with their boards, they need more than spreadsheets. They need a clear story behind the numbers, practical guidance, and a financial partner who understands the pressures of mission-driven work. That is where Tavia does her best work.

Licensed in Georgia and trained at Georgia State University, where she earned two bachelor’s degrees and a Master of Professional Accounting, Tavia brings more than a decade of experience across public accounting, for-profit companies, and nonprofit organizations. Her work is rooted in helping leaders feel informed, supported, and empowered as they grow.

Tavia’s community involvement and advocacy for children with special needs give her a grounded understanding of the real-world challenges nonprofits face. She is also passionate about mentorship and creating opportunities for the next generation of accounting professionals, especially aspiring Black CPAs.

Outside of work, Tavia is a mother to her 13-year-old son, William, and an avid tennis player. The discipline, patience, strategy, and long-game mindset she brings to the court also shape the way she serves her clients.

Tavia personally leads each Financial Strategy Session, helping nonprofit leaders translate complex financials into clear decisions, actionable next steps, stronger sustainability, and greater board confidence.

“Helping organizations strengthen their finances means helping communities thrive.”

Who We Service

Our business philosophy is simple: deliver the quality of service expected from a Fortune 500 company, tailored for mission-driven organizations.

We believe that when our clients succeed, we succeed. That’s why we don’t just put clients first; for us, it’s client only.

We work primarily with:

    • Nonprofits with annual funding greater than $500K and paid employees.
    • Organizations that have outgrown simple bookkeeping and need ongoing expert support.
    • Executives who wear “finance” as one of many hats and have no time for in-depth financial management.
    • Finance and operations leaders who need dependable reporting on restricted funds, grant tracking, and cash flow management.
    • Boards that want clear, simple, actionable explanations and ongoing support.

KNOW BEFORE YOU START

Frequently Asked Questions

We know accounting services can raise a lot of questions. Below are answers to the most common ones.

How is Anderson & Associates CPA different from a general accounting firm?

Anderson & Associates CPA Inc. focuses heavily on nonprofit accounting, which means we design your chart of accounts, reports, and processes around grants, restricted funds, programs, and board reporting, not just generic profit-and-loss statements, instead a Statement of Financial Activity, ready to transfer to Form 990. Our goal is to give executive directors and boards clear, nonprofit-specific insight they can use to make confident decisions, not just year-end reports for the file.

We already have a bookkeeper or finance staff. How would you work with them?

Many nonprofits we talk to already have someone handling day-to-day entries.

In those cases, we don’t replace your team, unless you want us to, we support them. We bring CPA-level review, structure, and strategy, so your staff has a clear framework, and your leadership and board get the higher-level insight they’ve been asking for.

Our books are behind, and a bit messy-should we wait until things are cleaned up?

Most leaders come to us feeling some version of “I’m embarrassed by our books.” That’s when outside support is most useful. Our clean-up services will help you move from behind and overwhelmed to caught up and audit-ready. Our ongoing services are mission focused, designed to maintain the structure we create in a clear-up, help you stay on top of your finances, make informed decisions, and drive long-term success.

What if we’re not ready to commit to ongoing nonprofit accounting services?

Not every organization is ready for a long-term engagement right away. The Financial Strategy Session is meant to give you clarity first: what’s working, what’s fragile, and what are your options. From there, we can discuss project-based help, ongoing support, or simply leave you with a roadmap to act on when the timing is right.
